Front Door Threshold
The front door threshold was plain concrete that had been painted. I decided to tile with slate. I added a Schluter stainless steel edge guard since this is the door furniture and other heavy things are brought in through and I did not want to risk the tile getting chipped.
Before: After: (sorry it was partially in the shadows)

Thanks for this picture. My husband and I are tackling an old farm house and we added a foyer by closing in part of the front porch. I wanted to use granite for a threshold, but they are hard to find or expensive and the box stores only carry a limited selection and lengths. Our door is wider than most, so I had an idea to use whatever tile we chose to cover the concrete to make a threshold, but my husband is skeptical. He'll appreciate being able to see my idea visually. Like the door, by the way.
Thanks for the comment. The front door is homemade. It is made from tongue and groove boards front and back with plywood in between to provide the extra needed thickness.
